Belgian Grand Prix

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to make some F1 fans on LJ for a while without a lot of success. I wondered if my blog about the Belgian GP might get a few people talking to me :)

I'm dying to share it with other F1 fans - hardly anyone I know at home gives a crap!

The Snowflake

el_gremmo used to do a thing here called the Snowflake, whereby each race he would list the drivers and teams which were mathematically eliminated from the championship. I believe he is not in a position to regularly see the races live, so I thought I would do them, as a favour to him and all of you (if that's cool with you, el_gremmo).

Please note, beneath this cut will technically be spoilers, so proceed at your own risk.

Lewis Hamilton now has 182 points, and there are 150 points available from the remaining six races. Therefore anyone with 31 points or less is mathematically eliminated from the title race. Those drivers are listed below.
- Vitaly Petrov
- Vitantonio Liuzzi
- Pedro de la Rosa
- Kamui Kobayashi
- Nico Hulkenberg
- Rubens Barichello
- Sebastien Buemi
- Jaime Alguersuari
- Heikki Kovalainen
- Jarno Trulli
- Timo Glock
- Lucas di Grassi
- Bruno Senna
- Karun Chandok

Red Bull lead the Constructors Championship with 330 points, and there are 258 points available from the remaining six ...

"The fastest doesn't mean the first"

Today I’ve heard a song about Vettel on youtube. I guess it’s about last few races, it’s full of critic. Maybe it’s right & Sebastian has to grow up to show better results. «The fastest doesn’t mean the first». Anyway he is good & I believe he’ll use this august break the best way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgrYeOi9nxs

Penalties and Tyres

by Writer of Erotica

Questions and thoughts on penalties...

General Question: The Renault stop-go for Kubica for the unsafe release - since Kubica retired the car one lap after serving the penalty (I presume due to damage to the car), could the team have "skipped" the stop-go penalty and simply retired the car, or would that incur a fine or perhaps a grid penalty at Spa?

As for the penalties themselves...
1.) Schumacher/Barichello: Has this been resolved yet?  If there is a penalty given (I presume there will be), what are the options available to the stewards?  I am not seeing anything on Formula1.com or speedtv.com.  (Tonight's Wind Tunnel should be interesting!)
2.) Vettel: After hearing his view in the post-race press conference, I can slightly understand his point of view.  On the other hand, even if the Safety Car lights had still been on, he was far too far back in the queue in my opinion, so he really has no one but himself to blame for this one.
Also, I find it interesting that ...

2005 German Grand Prix

2005 German Grand Prix

Silverstone was proof again of McLaren?s awesome pace. But Renault were right on their tail. Ferrari surely seem to have lost the plot, but their new aero package for Hockenheim could be a revelation. Both McLaren and Renault have one car to watch out for during qualifying ? Toyota, and specially Jarno Trulli. Whoever qualifies behind him is sure to lose the race lead to the one in front of him. Who?s going to win? Better not to guess.

The German Grand Prix is hosted at Hockenheim. Since the revisions of 2002 removed the long straights, it resembles many of its European brethren: a slow and medium corner based circuit, requiring relatively high downforce that rewards traction, good braking and balance. Overtaking is possible. Although the circuit no longer carries the challenge of seeing cars with minimum downforce settings attacking the stadium section, it retains some of the characteristics that made it stand out over the years: in particular, the crowd can fo...
